This year marks the centennial of The Armory Show. The show brings artwork from around the world and puts it all under one roof for all to see. Since 1913 it has been very instrumental in the way Americans look and interact with all forms of art. As in the past, this year’s show brings together a large number of influential photo galleries from around the world and those located here in NYC. For a list of some of the photo galleries involved (with photographs) visit Le Journal de la Photographie. For The Armory Show web site click on the image above. It’s definitely worth a visit.
I think this is the best Super Bowl commercial in recent memory. The Richard’s Group asked 10 photographers to spend time with farmers and ranchers, taking photo of them to be shown in a 2 minute spot for Ram aired during this year’s Super Bowl. What is so nice (yet unseen) is that there are no clients or craft service on set – just photographers and their subjects. Adding Paul Harvey’s words was pure brilliance as well.
Congratulations to the photographers who participated on a job very well done! Andy Anderson, William Allard, Jim Arndt, Daniel Beltra, Mark Gooch, Andy Mahr, Kurt Markus, David Spielman, Matt Turley and Olaf Veltman.

Recently Time Magazine posted on Time Lightbox their picks for best magazine covers of 2012. It’s a great mix of US and international publications – some I’ve seen and others I have not. The best part is the commentary from both the photographer and the magazine.
One of the many things I like about this time of year are the “The Year’s Best Photos” many magazines and organizations publish. This year not only does National Geographic show their top picks, but in addition Chris Johns (Editor in Chief) comments on his favorite images published in the magazine this past year.
